Every few months fashion week rolls around, and with hundreds of designers showing in each city, it’s often hard to keep up! While digging through online reports I found the trends were resolving in groups of three. Here are some of my favorites from New York Fashion Week this SP/SU ’15 Ready-to-Wear season.
One of my favorite trends of the season is the mid calf length vest. It’s a piece that can be worked into any casual daytime or evening look. Designers from left to right: Thakoon, Creatures of Comfort, and Lacoste.
It seems the perfect spring/summer outerwear piece is a light-color, light-weight parka. The perfect mix of ready-to-wear and activewear elements. Designers from Left to Right: Rag & Bone, J.Crew, & Porenza Schouler.
It seems that the designers couldn’t get away from military/surplus motifs this season. One reoccurring element was the utilitarian patch pocket. Designers from Left to Right: Michael Kors, Victoria Beckham, & Marc Jacobs.
The following designers are making new acquaintances, Introducing us face-to-face (or should I say face- to- digitally printed face). This trend includes some of our very own Parsons MFA alumni. Designers left to right: Hood by Air, Libertine, & Parsons MFA.
Plaid never seems to leave the runway, but this season plaid was everywhere. Plaids, on plaids, on plaids. Designers from left to right: Costello Taglipietra, Duckie Brown, & Michael Kors
Finally, you might find your wardrobe next season a little more curvy than usual, as these curved seam details are popping up everywhere. Designers from left to right: 3.1 philip lim, 10 Crosby Derek Lam, & Karen Walker.
As the SP/SU ’15 season continues keep an eye out for these trends in other cities! But that’s my wrap-up of NYFW ! If you have any additional trends you’ve spotted this season from the runway feel free to leave a comment below.
