Where could our Strategic Design and Management degree take you?

Yes, we know, the title is long, but totally worth it, trust us. The BBA in Strategic Design and Management here at Parsons is one of the most unique and complex programs we have to offer. As opposed to a standard business education, which would limit its focus to operations, sales and marketing, management, accounting and finance, the BBA leverages the integration of design tools into these business concepts resulting in an extremely diverse alumni population.

How diverse? Well first, to give you an idea, lets look at some of the places where our BBA students have interned: Lanvin Paris, W Magazine, Sony, The Pace Gallery, Yves Saint Laurent, IDEO, MTV, The New Yorker, Pentragram and many more.

What do students do when the graduate? Here are some jobs that could result after leaving Parsons if you did the BBA program. Enjoy!

Brand Strategist

A Brand Strategist is a master sleuth. They can see a product or brand through the eyes of the consumer and then map out how to communicate to them more effectively. This person works with everyone from designers to CEO’s of a company to best do their job, answering questions like: why is this brand invisible in Canada? In what type of environment is our audience interacting with this product and how can we meet them there? Some of our alumni have gone on to work at IDEO, one of the leading global design consultancy firms, working on strategies for organizations like The Center for Disease Control, Converse, Samsung and The Today Show!

Human Factors Specialist

Human Factors Specialists use business savvy and psychology to examine how people behave in certain situations and how design can have an impact on their behavior. This may include designed spaces like airports, subways or even interiors of offices and retail stores.

Recent BBA graduate Sally Baek did her thesis work ‘Designing for the Sandwich Generation’ on key trends, patterns and challenges facing designers and business leaders looking to tailor products for a generation of adults who are sandwiched between aging parents and their own children. She would make a great Human Factors Specialist!

Fashion and Talent Management

Remember our lovely student blogger Syd? He’s graduated from the BBA program in December and combined his love for the fashion industry with what he’s learned here at Parsons to land a gig at Wilhelmina Models, where he’s helping connect models, artists and musicians with top notch management.
