Fall in New York is quite possibly one of my favorite times of the year! Now that summer’s officially over, I can’t wait to partake in all the exciting things happening this fall! While you may be waist-deep in projects, be sure to enjoy all New York has to offer this fall! Here are some of my favorite (and free) things to do and love about this fall accompanied by some photos of NYC by Guang Xu (Integrated Design BFA ’14)
Best part of fall? Definitely being able to throw on a cozy sweater and boots! Not to mention all the delicious warm drinks you can sip comfortably as well; Pumpkin Spice Lattés at Starbucks (also available at the Café in Arnhold Hall) are back and definitely my favorite fall treat.
Don’t miss out on all the awesome events happening right here at Parsons this fall! The Visiting Artists Lecture Series, sponsored by the School of Art, Media, and Technology, is happening every Wednesday and invites artists from around the world to give free public presentations. Also be sure to check out “Act, Environment, Action!” on view now at the Shelia C. Johnson Design Center galleries and the Parsons Alumni Exhibition on view October 12th-19th.
Sure it’s called the concrete jungle for a reason, but there are actually so many places to experience nature in the city, and fall is exceptionally beautiful! Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge or do some homework in Washington Square Park. You’ll definitely want to be outdoors as much as possible before it gets super cold! Also, check out Time Out New York’s best places to catch a fall sunset!
I’ve never been that into this holiday but Halloween in New York is actually amazing. Think of the entire city as one big, creepy haunted house. I also urge all you new new yorkers to check out the Village Halloween Parade which runs along 6th Avenue from Spring Street to 16th Street.
Above all else this season remember to breathe! School work is definitely starting to pick up but that shouldn’t mean you can’t have a little fun either! Happy fall!
