Parsons is excited to be making its first appearance at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas! Four MFA Design and Technology candidates will have work installed at the AMOA-Arthouse at the Jones Center for the duration of the festival (March 9th – March 18th). The bios for these amazingly talented students are below.
Hirumi Nanayakkara is an interaction designer currently pursuing an MFA in Design + Technology at Parsons The New School for Design. Her work focuses on crafting engaging user experiences in mobile applications and experimental DIY biotechnology. Most recently, Hirumi’s work in mobile media and physical computation has been featured in Amsterdam, London, Beirut, and New York City. Tami Evnin is an interaction designer interested in utilizing digital technologies to express familiar human experiences. Her current focus is in developing social interfaces to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and product development. When not in front of her computer, Tami can be found in a yoga studio or exploring and documenting new places and events. She is an active member of the NY tech community and is excited to bring a part of it to Austin. Tami lives in Brooklyn, NY, but a part of her will always be in California.
Nidhi Malhotra is a New York based Interaction Designer, Technologist and Photographer. She moved to NY after many years in sunny California. She likes road trips, traveling and taking photos. She is currently finishing a MFA in Design and Technology at Parsons where she gets to play at the crossroads of design, code and web.
Maya Weinstein is an artist, programmer, hacker and photographer. She enjoys creating pieces that are conceptual with a strong narrative, exploring our relationships with the internet, literature, and what’s around us. She frequently finds new and exciting ways to employ tactile elements to computational art. Maya received her BA in Art History and BFA in photography at the University of Colorado Boulder and is currently pursuing her MFA in Design and Technology at Parsons The New School for Design. Maya resides in Brooklyn, NY and can often be found riding her bike, collecting cameras at flea markets, getting local produce at the Bushwick Farmers Market, or hanging with her dog Zion.
